TAD

TAD was started in September, 1897 by a group of Deaf leaders desiring to promote the welfare of deaf people in Tennessee. The first convention was held in September 1897 and 85 active members registered.
At this time TAD holds a biennial conferences, the most recent of which was July 2009.
During the conference TAD also has the Miss Deaf Tennessee Pageant for young deaf women from each chapter to compete for the crown. Miss Deaf Tennessee then competes at the NAD conference for the Miss Deaf America title.
