Internship Program

KCD offers internships for students majoring in sign language interpreting. Internships offer students the opportunity for skill building, mentoring, training opportunities, and real world experience. The internship program is a great way to develop your skills and be mentored by RID Certified Interpreters. At KCD interpreting is not just a career but doing your best, caring about what you do and the people you encounter. Interning is a chance to learn how to handle situations professionally that may be difficult or awkward. It is also a wonderful opportunity to build network connections that can help with future employment.

KCD requires students wishing to apply for internship to submit a letter of interest, two letters of recommendation, and a video tape/DVD of their work for consideration. The DVD should be a brief introduction (in sign) providing some basic background information such as: name, where you are from, and how you became interested in interpreting. Also, a sample of your receptive and expressive skills should be included, not rehearsed. This sample should be something familiar and on your skill level to show an accurate representation of your abilities. All submissions should be addressed to Charis Davis at KCD and submitted by...
